Directing operation of Macintosh based work stations utilizing publication and graphics software such as Freehand, Pagemaker, Photoshop and Fractal painter in a teaching/production environment.

Visual Arts

1983-1990 Founding member and active participant in the activities and group shows of The Women's Art Alliance, a Tuscaloosa based group of professional artists.

1996-1997 Member of the Kentuck Museum Committee, brought together to evaluate and redefine its role in the Kentuck Association. Serving on the exhibition and education subcommittees.

1996 Received a grant from the Tuscaloosa Fine Arts Council to create a visual tribute to Phoebe Barr, dancer, utilizing photographic collage & illustration techniques with Adobe Photoshop.

My background in Art history and ongoing interest in contemporary art and current art trends has lead me to continually explore major museums and galleries around the world

2000-Present Member of The Tuscaloosa women painter's Group (an active association that paints on location and has regular exhibitions of their paintings.

2001 Awarded Grant from The Tuscaloosa community dancers to further work on a web site about the life achievements and connections of dancer Phoebe Barr.

Jan-May 2002 While in California was a member of the Scape Group, Step one Gallery ,and The Goleta Valley Arts Association.

2002 Redesigned the current web site for The Art Council of Tuscaloosa.

Advertising and Public Relations

1984-1991 Member of Tuscaloosa Ad. Club. Served 2 years on Board of Directors. Winner of many awards Gold + Silver Medal awards for advertising excellence from Ad. Federation.

Freelance Advertising graphics for local advertising agencies and individual work for accounts such as Gulf States Paper Coroporation, State of Alabama Department of Mental Health, Elk Roofing Corporation, University Mall, The City of Tuscaloosa, and other businesses and organizations. (Designing print ads, direct mail, logos, brochures, posters, and catalogs.)

Long standing association with the Theatre and Dance Department of the University of Alabama, producing over 75 posters, many award winning, for their productions over the last fifteen years.

Including poster for MacBeth awarded 1st Place in the Southeastern College Design Competition.

Dance

1997-Began co-writing a grant in conjunction with the Alabama Dance Council to produce an exhibit entitled "Flames of One Fire": The legacy of Phoebe Barr carrying the light of Denishawn through a lifetime of dance. This project may take the form of a developed Website in the future.

1988-1996 Taken over 40 semester hours of dance classes in Modern Dance and Jazz

Artistic collaborations with University of Alabama dance faculty members in stage sets and multimedia performances.

Past board member for Shelton State Ballet Program and The Tuscaloosa Community Dancers.

Ten year membership in the University College Designers Association . Attendance at nine national conferences and contributing writer for Design Magazine.

Past and Current Board member of the Capstone Womens Network (a professional network and support group of University of Alabama women)

June 1997- Initiated the formation of the Graphic Design Forum group at the U. of A.- networking design professionals and educators on the U. of A. campus.

1994-Present - Five years of dedicated study of the art of The Japanese Tea Ceremony in conjunction with The Japan Center at The University of Alabama and further study as of May, 1999 with master teacher at The Birmingham Botanical Garden.

Exhibition Highlights

One woman show at the Kentuck Gallery, in Tuscaloosa, AL entitled “Five Months in Carpinteria”. January 2003

This recent work represents her experience as a landscape painter during a sojourn to Southern California, and the new direction of her focus as an independent artist and painter. During this time she became a founding member of SCAPE( Southern California Artists Painting the Environment) and participated in classes and workshops lead by prominent area artists including Michael Drury and Nobu Yamamoto, master Japanese Sumi-e Painter.
